What’s Your System?
Stuart | YLF2020-09-24T12:47:03+00:00I’d put a bet on that you’ve got really good systems in your business – Haven’t you? And by systems I don’t just mean computer systems, but I mean a set system for acheiving a desired out come. That could be paper based, it could be computerised or it could just be a set way of doing things that is in your head.
I bet you’ve got systems for stock control, staff recruitment and management, payroll, managing your accounts, processing orders, appointment booking, delivery and fulfilment. I bet you’ve got systems in place for almost every aspect of your business. Having systems in place means that you get predictable and consistant results.
So let me ask you. What is your customer gathering system? What do you do on a regular, consistent basis to attract new enquiries and convert them into your business?
Or another way of putting it, what’s your marketing system?
We work with a number of businesses of different sizes, from one man bands to international and national companies. One thing that they all have in common are the ones that have systems in place to market their business and they implement those systems religiously are the ones that do well.
This happens at all levels. Because they have dependable systems in place, their company gets more enquiries. Because they regularly blog and use social media, they get more web traffic. Because they regularly do leaflet drops, they get greater recognition and the number of enquiries fenerated from their leaflets increase. Everytime we deliver 30,000 leaflets for our company, we get between 15-20 phone calls. I measure this, I know it works, therefore I do it every month! It forms part of my marketing system.
As well as having regular new enquiries coming in, another massive advantage of having a system for your marketing, is that it can happen automatically.
For example, one of our best clients has instructed his designer to produce a new piece of artwork every month and to have it to us by the 10th of each month. We then print 30,000 leaflets and deliver them to properties that match a pre-defined demographic criteria. This happens every month and the client doesn’t have to get involved other than approving the artwork every month and of course answering the phone from the enquiries.
So, what’s your system? What activities do you do on a systematic regular basis to get new clients. If you’re using a regular and systematic method of getting new customers, you’re leaving money on the table and restricting your companies growth.
Here’s some ideas of what you could be doing. (there’s loads more that you could work on! But here’s a few)
- Google Adwords
- Business Networking
- Direct Mail
- Social Media
- Blogging
- SEO
- Magazine advertising
- Exhibitions
- Outdoor Media/Signage
- And of course Leaflet Distribution
It would be a very good use of your time to spend a couple of hours, putting down on paper exactly what you’ll be doing and committing to regular actions.
