Waxing vs Shaving….. What You NEED To Know….Stuart | YLF
Are you a waxer or a shaver? Perhaps you have some burning questions about what a wax is like or if waxing is better than shaving.
Well I’m here to give you the lowdown on why you may be missing out on smoother, hair-free skin for longer.
Did you know that shaving can actually increase the appearance of hair. When you use a blade to cut the hairs, it does so by leaving a blunt edge at the tip of the remaining hair. This will actually make the hair appear darker, thicker and more coarse. Not to mention that shaving only removes the hair down to the surface of the skin whereas waxing removes the hair from the root meaning that you will be hair-free for longer.
We understand that shaving can seem more convenient and is a quick fix when you’re in a rush and need hair free skin.
You may even think that shaving is the cheaper option but the cost of razors and shaving foam add up not to mention the extra time you need to spend in the shower each week to achieve hair free skin.
But what about the pain?
We’ve all seen the online videos of wax disasters and heard stories of how painful waxing is but these are not indicative of the truth. A skilled wax specialist will work quickly, with a variety of different wax products and techniques to make your wax as comfortable, quick and painless as possible.
Many clients report how surprised they are at their level of comfort when they have a wax at our salon. A wax does not have to be the horror story you imagine.Over time waxing can actually thin out hair growth so you will have less to remove and less often. The results of waxing can last approximately up to 4 weeks. Wouldn’t that be a welcome relief from picking up the razor every 1-3 days?
Waxing is also gentler on the skin. With less irritation and no risk of cuts the skin will feel softer and smoother. When the hair grows back it doesn’t feel like the prickles and stubble that you get after shaving. Both waxing and shaving can contribute towards ingrowing hairs (hair trapped under the skin) but regular exfoliation and dry body brushing will help to remove dead skin build up and encourage the hairs to the surface. Couple this with using a good aftercare product such as Wax:One Care to reduce and treat ingrown hairs, you couldn’t want for a smoother finish. From eyebrow waxing, to underarm waxing and even Hollywood waxing (removing all hair from the bikini area) you’ll never be afraid to wear the camisole top or the mid length skirt let alone being beach ready.
