Midsummer Place announces triple winners Independent business project sees talent ‘beyond expectations’

Today, Midsummer Place welcomes the opening of its first ‘Hatch’ competition winner, Throw Back Vintage.

The entrepreneurial search for independent businesses saw over 40 entries in total enter earlier this year, and just three made it into their own retail space.

The three winners are: Vibrant Fit, Throw Back Vintage and Amber Ray Aesthetics.

Throw Back Vintage is the first to open their pop-up shop in Midsummer Place and is located next to LEGO. The store is owned by Faye Kingston and sells internationally sourced vintage clothing from the 40s to 90s such as flying jackets to sweatshirts.

Faye said: “As a brand, we are committed to looking fresh and on trend through vintage, reworked and recycled clothing to help reduce the impact on the environment.

“We are so excited to be open in Midsummer Place and to take our company to a new level while encouraging thousands of people to consider shopping unique and stylish vintage pieces.”

Kirsty McGiff, Marketing Manager at Midsummer Place has driven the competition and said that the talent and innovative thinking in the region was “beyond expectations and truly inspirational”. She added: “We started the competition thinking it would be great to have at least one really strong winner but, due to the incredible talent that entered, we have three.”

“The winners of Hatch 2022 showed that they had a strong business idea, a unique concept that would appeal to our shoppers and a true sense of passion and belief in what they do,” Kirsty added.

Vibrant Fit will be next to open on 24 or 25 July and offers a data-based fitness studio that targets areas of the body through a unique system of testing and analysis – what they call a body MOT. Through their simple exercise plan, Vibrant Fit helps to lose weight, get toned and regain energy.

Amber Ray Aesthetics is an established skincare clinic offering anti-wrinkle, dermal fillers, skin treatments, skin boosters, vitamin injections and fat dissolving injections. Opening in later this year, further details will be revealed nearer the time.

Over 40 businesses entered the Hatch competition which launched in March, and were whittled down to 11 who presented to a panel of judges in June. The success of the project has Midsummer Place committed to repeating the search in 2023.

Hatch has also sparked Midsummer Place to host a ‘Hatch Market’ on September 24 & 25 that will consider of all the finalists, giving them a chance to meet shoppers in Milton Keynes.
