Aspirational Apprentices – Foreign & Commonwealth Office

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Mark Lancaster MP made a series of visits to organisations operating apprenticeship programmes.

One of which was FCO Services.  Based in Hanslope, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office provide a range of integrated, secure services for foreign governments, including our own. Designing and building protective security is just one aspect, which incorporates the National Authority for Counter Eavesdropping (UK NACE), helping protect UK assets from physical, electronic and cyber-attack.

After meeting current and former apprentices last week, Mark said, “It was a pleasure to meet the young men and women who are starting their career path to support our diplomatic objectives and personnel overseas. As a well-respected and highly regarded organisation, FCO Services offer a wide range of diverse opportunities. There aren’t many places where having once completed your apprenticeship, you have the prospect of travelling across the globe.”

Danny Payne, CEO, FCO Services said:

“Our apprentices were proud to meet Mr Lancaster and demonstrate the wide range of opportunities we offer here at FCO Services. The feedback from apprentices past and present, is that our programmes provide fantastic opportunities. In the past year alone they have worked on projects in London, the USA, Nigeria, Cyprus and Latvia, and many go on to have long and rewarding careers, safeguarding and supporting our diplomatic missions.

As we showcase what’s on offer at this week’s National Apprenticeship Show, we look forward to more local talent joining us to gain practical experience at the heart of government.”

FCO Services’ highly established apprenticeship programmes provide a foundation to start a successful career in a number of specialist areas including technical engineering; IT; cyber security; logistics; project management; structural and civil engineering; building surveying; vehicle mechanics, security design engineering and finance.

We have been running our apprenticeship scheme for over 50 years and have previously been recognised as a top apprenticeship public sector employer.
